I am very interested in print making and the different ways artists approach that medium. I went to lower east side print shop as well as some print studios on 26th. I really enjoyed the print shops the most but Enoc Perez's architectural elements brought into his works were great, they were simple yet sketchy. The Lehmann Maupin gallery was the nicest inside, I really liked the open ceiling area, not so much the work inside. The Toguo work was very interesting. I liked the line work and really enjoyed the size scale of how large.

We need more writing for your interviews. For each show you saw, describe the work, describe the gallery. What do you think of it and why? This is not sufficient for completing the assignment.

ReplyDeleteFor Enoc Perez's show, The piece that caught my eye was the Pavilion of the Soviet Union. I enjoy the flat background of teal with the mustard yellow lights. I like the somewhat unfinished look if you will of these pieces, I especially liked his works because of the crisp clean lines and how the all have some sense of structure. In the lower east side print shop there was also prints by Enoc Perez so it was interesting to see the correlation of his works converted into different mediums. I enjoy prints so I liked his prints better than the oil paintings but I can appreciate them both. The vibrant colors and line work make such works as: Teatro Popula stand out because there were several of the same print editioned in several color ways.Of Toguo's works, I especially liked the Animal Pleasure work. The line work reminds me of James Sienna.
ReplyDeleteThat day I also went to the Moma where I enjoyed such works of: Niklaus Troxler. I liked his work because of the popiness and the bright colors. I also liked Frank Stella's Empress of India because of the line work and subtle color changes
